Welcome to our website and our Parish! My name is Father John Guzaldo, and am the pastor of St. Louis Catholic Church here in Waco. We have a wonderful parish, so feel free to “look around”.
I was born in Chicago, Ill, but raised in San Marcos, Texas. I went to high school and college in San Marcos and became a teacher and a coach. I taught for 6 years on the junior high level (it's not for everybody) and coached football and soccer on both high school and junior high levels. Although I really loved teaching and coaching, in 1999 I decided to try the seminary. I felt called by God and I followed. In 2006, after seven years of seminary, I was ordained a priest. My first assignment was as an associate pastor at St. Helen’s Catholic Church in Georgetown, Texas. I was there for three wonderful years and then transferred to St. Dominic Savio Catholic High School in Austin. I was the campus minister as well as the Theology teacher there at our new school. It was the best time in my life and I really miss all of my students. I was only there for one year before I was transferred here to St. Louis in Waco.
Since coming here, I have discovered what a dynamic and active parish St. Louis has. The crowning jewels of our parish are the beautiful worship space in the Church, which was built by our beloved founding pastor Msgr. Mark Deering, and our school. Feel free to visit anytime and if there is anything I can do for you don’t hesitate to contact me.
