A catechist is a teacher of the Catholic faith and ideally believes in all core doctrines of the Catholic Church. We are always looking for our parishioners and/or parents to get involved and become CCE catechists.
The CCE catechists at St. Louis Catholic Church are typically chosen by either our pastor, Father John Guzaldo, or our Director of Religious Education, Mrs. Antonia Duran.
In order to be a CCE catechist you must be Ethics and Integrity Ministry (EIM) compliant. The purpose of the Ethics and Integrity Ministry is to protect our children and offer a safe learning environment. The process begins by going to the Diocese of Austin web site www.austindiocese.org and filling out an EIM application. This also includes a background check.
Once you have completed the EIM class you are now ready to be a soldier of Christ for our young people as a CCE catechist. EIM certification is done every three years. To be a CCE catechist you do not have to have a degree in theology or any prior experience. We’re looking for people who love Jesus and His Church and want to minister to our youth.
