One of the greatest ways to spiritually combat the devil and resist temptation is the reception of the sacraments, personal prayer and, in particular, praying before the blessed sacrament, an inexhaustible source of holiness. The Church teaches that those who abide with the Lord in this way “enjoy his intimate friendship and pour out their hearts before him for themselves and for those dear to them” and are able to foster the right dispositions so vital to the interior life. This is the reason St. Louis offers so many opportunities to spend time with Jesus in this way. What you may not realize is that there is a difference between Eucharist adoration and Eucharistic exposition. Eucharistic adoration is prayer before the Blessed Sacrament housed within the tabernacle. Eucharistic exposition, on the other hand, is the ritual by which the Blessed Sacrament is displayed outside of the tabernacle in a monstrance for the purpose of public veneration by the faithful in a solemn manner. Out of a desire to provide for you the opportunity to spend time in intimate friendship with Jesus, pour out your hearts, and fostering right dispositions at St. Louis hosts ample opportunities to spend time in Eucharistic Exposition in the morning and evenings and we keep the church open during business hours so that you can spend time in Eucharistic adoration of Christ in the tabernacle. Please come pour your heart out before Him.
